4D Backup protects your data by enabling you to make backup copies of your databases. You can choose from several backup methods, from creating a simple backup on disk to managing a mirror database that serves as a replica of your original.
Cross-Platform
4D Backup is a cross-platform application. You can install and use 4D Backup in a heterogeneous configuration. For example, 4D Backup works transparently with 4D Server on a Power Macintosh, a mirror database on a Windows computer and Windows 95/98/NT clients. You can restore or integrate a saved database or log file on any platform, whatever the original platform was.
4D Backup as a Standalone Application
4D Backup can be used as an independent application. From the main 4D Backup
window, you can access windows allowing you to perform any backup task.
4D Backup as a Plug-in
When you install 4D Backup in a database, it appears as a plug-in that can
be chosen from the User Environment's Plug-ins menu. If you are using 4D
Server, you can also access the plug-in from the Backup menu in 4D Server's
main window on the server machine. Almost all back-up and restore functionality
can be executed procedurally.
