Brand new 4D for ADO plug-in allows developers to connect 4D 2004 applications to most Windows RDBMS’s

SAN JOSE, Calif., October 5, 2004 -- 4D, Inc., publishers of the 4th Dimension RAD/RDBMS environment, 4D Business Kit and 4D WebSTAR Server Suite, today announced it is shipping 4D for ADO, a brand new plug-in for 4D 2004. The plug-in provides 4D developers an ADO programming interface to access data in most relational database management systems that run on Windows® systems. 4D for ADO is available today directly from:

ADO, short for ActiveX Data Objects, is Microsoft’s newest high-level interface for data objects. 4D for ADO enables the execution of queries on most of the RDBMS’s that run on Windows, including MS SQL Server, Oracle 8i/9i, Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ESA), MS Access and many others. And because ADO enables access to Active Directory Services, the 4D for ADO plug-in can also be used to interact with data sources that support ADO.Net back ends such as LDAP servers and other Internet data sources. The 4D for ADO plug-in can be used with 4D 2004 on both Windows and Macintosh platforms.
