4D WebSTAR V v5.3.3 Update Now Available

Significant release includes expanded Anti-Spam features, new version of WebMail Pro, and improvements to Web, Mail and FTP servers

San Jose, CA, July 8, 2004 - 4D, Inc., publishers of the 4th Dimension RAD/RDBMS Environment and 4D WebSTAR Server Suite, today announced the release of 4D WebSTAR V v5.3.3, a free update to 4D WebSTAR Server Suite, which includes 4D Mail. This update enhances 4D Mail’s spam filtering capabilities with IP address whitelisting, and the ability to filter messages pre-tagged with SpamAssassin headers. Among other new features, 4D WebMail Pro v2.0.3 now enables 4D Mail users to change their passwords. The 5.3.3 release includes numerous other improvements to the Web, Mail and FTP servers, and is available immediately from the 4D, Inc. Web site <http://www.4D.com>

With IP address whitelisting in 4D Mail, administrators can “whitelist” specific IP addresses. Messages from these whitelisted locations will be accepted without the normal DNS blacklist or spam filtering checks. The update also offers spam filter support for messages with SpamAssassin headers. SpamAssassin is an open-source mail filter used to identify spam. By checking for messages that have been pre-filtered by a SpamAssassin installation, 4D Mail can further reduce the influx of inbound spam at the server level.

New features in WebMail Pro (v2.0.3) include the ability for Mail users to change their password from their Web interface, the ability to add new data segments to the 4D WebMail Pro Database, and improvements in IMAP support.
