4D, Inc. Ships 4D WebSTAR V v5.2.4 Update

San Jose, CA., February 20, 2003 -- 4D, Inc., publishers of the 4th Dimension RAD/RDBMS environment and 4D WebSTAR Server Suite, today announced the immediate availability of 4D WebSTAR V v5.2.4, now with built-in support for Web Services, new administration options, significantly updated 4D WebMail Pro, and more. The new 4D WebSTAR V v5.2.4 update is a free update for all registered users of 4D WebSTAR Server Suite V for Mac® OS X and available immediately, directly from <http://www.4D.com/>.

Now 4D WebSTAR V v5.2.4's Web Services can integrate with 4th Dimension 2003 and other applications' Web Services with a full SOAP implementation. This support for SOAP-based Web Services is provided via the built-in NuSOAP library for PHP in v5.2.4. Several Administrative options have been added including per-user storage limits for Mail users. The included 4D WebMail Pro application has tighter integration with the Mail server, improved attachment handling and greater reliability in managing email via most modern Web browsers.

Other changes included in the update improve reliability in the Web and mail servers. Mail server compatibility with various mail clients have been fixed or updated. DNS handling has been greatly improved to better manage processing of relayed messages. User interface and administration enhancements have been made to the Web, Mail and FTP servers. AppleEvent CGI handling is now compatible with Mac OS X v10.2.3 or higher.

4D WebSTAR v5.2.4 is available today as a free update to users of 4D WebSTAR V. Upgrades are available at $199 for current registered users of WebSTAR v4, and $299 for current registered users of WebSTAR v3. Cross-grades are available to Mac OS X Server users for $299.
